ÇUBUKLU GROVE
ÇUBUKLU GROVE

Çubuklu is a grove located in Beykoz District that is one of the calm and peaceful faces of Istanbul. According to Byzantine sources, the copse site had become a home to the monastery of a group of monks.

Today, it is possible to find ruins of a cistern and some waterways from the era. During Ottoman era, Khedive of Egypt (Khedive was the title peculiar to the governors of Egypt) bought two mansions in the park and put an Italian architect into the task of building a minor palace. Today that palace is called Khedive Palace and became the symbol of the park and available for the visitors as a cafe.
